Originally from Middlesex, I moved to Wiltshire in 1981. An interest in creating with colour led me to take up painting as a hobby in the mid-1980’s. I have had no formal art training, but have taken advantage of local evening classes and weekend workshops, in addition to reading extensively about the work of present day artists as well as those of the past.
My primary medium is watercolour and subject matter is varied; however, I have developed a special interest in floral compositions, many of which are in miniature. I am also attracted to time-worn buildings and this has prompted me to experiment with acrylics, gouache, inks and collage in an effort to include a more textural finish to some of my work.
In addition to exhibiting at local and county venues, I have had submissions accepted for national open exhibitions of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers. I am also an exhibiting member of the Hilliard Society of Miniaturists and the Society of Floral Painters, both national organisations. Locally, I am a member of the Guild of Wiltshire Artists.
